Sound Velocity Anomaly Associated with Polaron Ordering in La_<1-X>Sr_XMnO_3

The sound velocitv 'us('7') and the electrical resistivitv o(T) of La? ,vSr,x-lVIrrOa (0.11< X<0.17) have been rneasured and anornalies in v.(T), which are ret?rted to the polaron-ordered phasecentered at X ::: 1/8, have been observed. The plaase di?tgrarra betxveen the polaron-orderingtemperatx+re Tp and X has been determined froraa the v. arxonnnalles.
