Anomalous Phonon-Spin Scattering in La_<1-x>Sr_xMnO_3

The temperatttre dependence of the phonon therunal condtrctivity x(T) of La) .Sr.lVInO3(0.11< x< 0.20) polycrystals was measured from 60K to 360K. For x = 0.155 ttnd 0.170, x(T)is markedly reduced over a wide temperature range near the ferrornagnetic transition tenaperatureT.. The analyses of x(T) have revealed the existence of anotnalously strong phonon scatteringcattsed by the coupling of spin fltrctuations ?tnd the lattice instability in this dotrble exchangecoupled system.
