Thermoelectric Power and Hall Effect in Co-Al-O Granular Films

We have rneastrred the thermoelectric power and Hall effect on three Co -Al -O grantrlar filnuswhose conduction naechanisrn varies frozn nnetallic to tunneling type depending on O content, Weobtained a finite therrnoelectric power (TEP) which decreases with increasing resistivity. In thetunneling type sarnple, a large field dependence of TEP correlated with the nuagnetoresistance hasbeen observed. The Hall coefficient of Co-Al -O decreases with increasing saxnaple resistivity, incontrast with the giant Hall effect reported f'or Ni -SiOz grantnlar sample with a similar resistivity.The dorninant electronic condtuction mechanisnas are found to be difl'erent between the giantmagnetoresistance and the giant Hall effect in ferrottaagnetic-metal-oxide grantrlar systenas.
