Anomalous Pressure Dependence of the Giant Magnetoresistance for Co/Cu Magnetic Multilayers

The efl'ect of' presstrre of Lip to 2.2 GPa on the giant magnetoresistance (GIVIR) has been in-xzestigated for sputtered [CO(l0.8A)/CLI(ZC.A)115 rnagnetic raaultilayer's with van'ious Ctr-layerthicknesses, #C.. It w?ts f'ottnd that the IVIR ratio, ,5p/p., showirrg oscillator'y behavior witlu t0.,is strongly affected by the application of pressure att 4.2 K f'or tlae sarnples near the first peak(Z0. : 9.8 and ll.7A): Ap/p. I'or ZC. : 9,8 decreases with increasing jcresstrre, while ,2sp/p. L'orZC. = 11.7 increases with increasing pressure. On the other hand, the presstrre effect on Ap/p.for the samples near the second pe?tk (ZC.. : 21.5 ?tnd 23.4A) is natuch suaaaller than that nearthe first pe?tk.
