Pressure Effect on the Crystal Structure and the Superconducting Transition Temperature of NbSe_3

The lattice parameters of NbSe. were measured under pressure up to ca. 35kbar and found to show no anomalous variation around 6 kbar where the pres-sure coefficient of superconducting transition temperature, c1T./dP, changes itssign. It is concluded that the crystal structure is not modified under pressure, andsuggested that the change in sign of c1T./c3P is due to an electron origin. Aniso-tropy of the compressibilities were observed and discussed in relation with theanisotropic nature of the chemical bondings in NbSe3 crystal.
