Electrical Resistivity of Amorphous Ce-Ru Alloy under High Pressure and High Magnetic Field

The electrical resistivity, p, of amorphotrs Ce5gRtm,jz alloy (a-CeRu) has been measured as afunction of temperature (T) at various pressures (P) up to 14 GPa. At roorn ternperature pdecreases rapidly with increasing presstrre: Dlogp/OP : -O.9GPa ' below 2GPa. The log's'dependence in the p(T) curve due to Kondo scattering is observed Lip to 14 GPa. The slopeof the p vs logl curve decreases with increasing pressure. At 4.2K the magnetoresistance,Ap/p, is positive and decreases with increasing presstrre. These results suggest that the Kondotetnperature, V'K, decreases with presstrre in a-CeRu, i.e., the Kondo effect is suppressed byapplying pressure.
