Coexistence of Superconductivity and Antiferromagnetic Ordering in ErPb_2

Low-temperature specific heat, electrical resistivity, DC and AC susceptibilities andmagnetization of ErPb. have been invc:stigated. The ErPb. compound shows an an-tiferromagnetic ordering at 3.5 K. It should be noted tltat this corn)cound exhibitssuperconductivity below 7.4K, although it contains a high concentration of themagnetic element of Er. The Meissner' ratio estimated fronx the data on zero-field andfield-cooled magnetizations measured in 3 Oe is nearly 25%, and the Neel tempera-ture T. is lower than the superconducting temperature T.. From these thermal, elec-trical and magnetic properties, it is conc:luded that the superconductivity coexists withthe antiferromagnetic ordering in the IErPb..[ErPb. compound, antiferromagnetism, superconductivity, coexistence, ll Meissner ratio, flux pinning, suscep1.ibi]ity, resistivityl
