Temperature- and Field-Induced Valence Change in Yb_xIn_<1-x>Cu_2

A field-induced metamagnetic transition has been observed in the valence fluctuating intermetallic compound Yb.In. .Cu. (0.25 3.X'l<0.55) around 300 k0e at 4.2K. The temperature dependence of the susceptibility for the samples with0.25 3,v30.6 has also been measured. It is shown that the meLamagnetic transition iscorrelated closely with the Yb-valence transition observed at about 40 K in the suscep-tibility measurement,[mixed valence, intermetallic compound, magnetic susceptibility, pulsed high ]l magnetic field, valence changel
