Far Infrared ESR Study of Spin-Peierls Compound MEM (TCNQ)_2

Electron spin resonance experiments have been performed on spin-Peierls com-pound MUM(TCNQ). at far infrared (H.)=255 ]c0e) and ,X'-band(#(,=3.3 k0e) fre-quencies, with a special interest in the predicted high field incommensurate phase.The low field ESR revealed a rapid increase of the resonance width below the spin-Peierls transition temperature T.,= 17.8 K, while no change was observed in the highfield experiments down to 4.2 K within the present experimental resolution AH,.,z 50Oe (AH.../H.z2X10 '). Itis most likely that the predicted incommensurate phasedoes not exist, and that the high temperature uniform phase survives at high fieldregion down to the lowest temperature studied.
