Single-Site and Inter-Site Effects in Heavy Fermion Compound CeRu_2Si_2 Studied by Constant Volume Dilution

In order to study the single-site and inter-site ef['ects in CeRuzSi3, a systematic di-Juting experiment has been perforrned with the single crystals of' pseudo-ternary alloysCen .(Lao.oaYo.sr)rRuzSix [0< x< 13, where the trnit cell volurne is kept unchanged to avoidthe chemical pressure effect, Magnetization process in fields H< 200 kOe and at applied pres-sures P< 5 kbar, specific heat C(T), electrical resistivity p(T) and thermal expansion have beenmeasured at teuaaperatures above 1.5 K, with a special attention being paid to the anetataaagneticbehavior inherent in CeRuzSiz. In a whole Ce concentration range, the systeraa rernains in anon-magnetic state. Sharp raaetanaagnetisrn shows a rapid broadening with x, and disappearsat x x 0.2 where incoherent Kondo scattering becomes significant in p(T). By careful analysisof single-site contributions, a peak structure is revealed in C(T) which is not explained by the"Kondo peak" alone, The result can be interpreted by a psettdo-gap in the qvrasi-particle band,which disappears upon dilvrtion. Constant-volurne rnagnetizatiorn process My (H ) is derived frorauthe measured zero-pressure ctzrves, using the scaling hypothesis proved by the high-presstnre experiment. Metanaagnetisrn, although becoming nauch less sharp, still exists in A#y(H), indicatingimportance of an intrinsic mechanism other than the voluzne ef['ect.
