Coherent Electron-Correlation Compatible with Random Atom Stacking in Amorphous Ce-Ru Alloys

The amorphous Ce -Ru alloys produced by the sptcttering technique show the following distinctlcehaviors at low temperatures. The electronic specific heat coefficient rapidly increases below 5 Kfor Ce -19 and 42 at.%Rtr alloys with decreasing tezauperatvrre, T, (a heavy fermion behavior). Theelectrical resistivity displays -log T dependence at T >40 K (an incoherent or impurity Kondoeffect). It slightly decreases at T< 3OK for Ce-19 and 42at.%Ru alloys (a coherent Kondoeffect), while it abruptly decretxses at 2.5K for 82at.%Rtu (a superconducting phenomenon).These coherent states rnay originate from the strong mixing and correlation of 4f-electrons andconduction-electrons even in the rttndorn alloy system.
