Magnetism and Magnetoresistance in Fe/Cu Granular Films Produced by Sputter Deposition and Subsequent Annealing

Magnetic properties and nnagnetoresistance (MR) have been studied in homogeneous and gran-trlar Fe.Ctrjgg . filrns produced by sptrtter (SP)-deposition and subsequent annealing. Concen-tration dependence of the Ml ratio shows a rnaxirntmm at x : 20 in the as-SP-deposited films.On the other hand, it shows a monotonic change (no maxirnttrn) after annealed at 673 K for30 min. Such an MR variation by annealing is ascribed to the magnetic transition of Fe cltrstersin Cu umatrices. 1VI6ssbatzer spectra and thermornagnetic curves observed at low temperaturesindicate that the as-SP-deposited Fe.Cu)gg . alloy filraas are f.c.c. for x< 35 being spin-glass,wl'nile those ones annealed at 673 K f'or 30 ruin are f.c.c. and b.c.c. unixture, being a spin-glass andf'erronaagnetic complex for x : 11 and an antif'errotnagnetic and ferrornagnetic one for tl' :: 20.
