The structure and magnetic properties of mechanically ground ε-Fe_<2.3>N alloy powders have been investigated by X-ray diffraction, vibrating sample magnetometer and Mossbauer spectroscopy. Even after milling of 300 h, the ε-Fe_<2.3>N alloy powders form only nanocrystallites and yield no phase transformation. Saturation magnetization of ε-Fe_<2.3>N initially increases and then becomes constant, indicating the homogeneous distribution of Natoms.
