Impurity Effect of Lanthanum on the γ-α Transition Temperature and Pressure of Ce Metal

The 7-a transition pressure (P,-.), temperature (7',-,), and critical point(P., 7',) of Cen =.La. allo>'s (,v=O.0'-0.03) were determined b'? electrical resistivit>'measurements under pressure up to 10 kbar at temperatures between 50 K and300 K. A nonlinear dependextce of T,-. on pressure was confirmed for ,v=0.0and 0.02 in agreement with the theory for ,v=0.0 by Miyantoto and Nagamiya(MN) rather than that by Raunirez and Falicov (RF). The impurity effects oflanthanum on P,=., T,=., and T.=, were determined experimentally: 8P,=./8x=(0.3740.06)kbar/(at.% La), 8T,=./8x= -(]2.5f1)K/(at.% La) and 8T.=,/8x=- (12.1. 1 )K/(at. % La) respectively. These experimental results were found to bein qualitative agreement with the calculated results by an extension of the MNtheory.
