Thermal Transport Anomaly Associated with Weak Ferromagnetism in CaMnO_3 : Condensed Matter: Structure, etc.

• The thermal conductivity k(T), thermal diffusivity α(T) and magnetization M(T) have been measured for sintered CaMnO_3 and La_<1-x>Ca_xMnO_3 in lightly electron-doped region (0.98 ⪇ x ⪇ 1.0). k(T) and α(T) of CaMnO_3 show an anomalous enhancement below the weak ferromagnetic transition temperature T_N. The enhancement is rapidly reduced by introduction of a small amount of Mn^<3+> ions in La_<1-x>Ca_xMnO_3. The analyses suggest the possibility that the enhancement comes from the contribution of the heat transport by magnetic excitations.
