Mictomagnetic Properties of Amorphous Ni-Mn-Si-B Alloys

Low temperature magnetic properties of amorphous (Ni.-.Mn.)..Si..B.alloys were investigated. The alloys in the range of 0.18<.x<0.5 showed a mag-netic nature of the so called mictomagnetism, characteristics with asymmetricalhysteresis loop due to unidirectional exchange anisotropy. These characteristicswere similar to the mictomagnetic properties observed in crystalline Ni-Mnalloys.Among models that were proposed for the crystalline mictomagnets, localenvironment model based on ferro- and antiferro-magnetic interactions of nearestneighbour atoms was more applicable to the amorphous alloys rather thanheterogeneous structure model based on ferro- and antiferro-magnetic macro-scopic aggregations of atoms, because the structure of amorphous alloys is con-siderably homogeneous.
