Log T Dependince of Resistivity and Negative Magnetoresistance in the Layered TiTe_2

Resistivity measurements of TiTe. have been made. Abccve 10 K, a typicalmetallic behavior has been observed, while at low temperatures an increase ofresistivity with a log 7'dependence has been found. From measurements of magne-toresistance, this anomaly has been concluded to be due to not the Kondo effectbut the two-dimensional Anderson Iocalization irt the weakly localized regime.Negative magnetoresistance observed for J 3- II//c?-xxis is proportional to H' inlow fields and to log H in intermediate fields and saturates about 40 k0e. Thisfield dependence is in good agreement with Hikatmi et al.'s theory based on thetwo-dimensional localization. Moreover, TiTe. seems to be a new system, wheretwo carriers (three-dimensional and two-dimensional) exist ttnd the two-dimen-sional carriers are considered to be localized at lovv temperatures.
