An interference effect between the high- T. superconductivity and martensitic transi-tion in A15 compounds such as V,Si and Nb,Sn has been studied. It is found from themeasurements of the sound velocity, sound attenuation, thermal dilation and the elec-trical resistance, that an occurrence of superconductivity interferes drastically withthe developing tetragonal distortions caused by the martensitic transformation, butthe high-7'. superconductivity in these compounds is only weakly affected by thepresence of the martensitic transition. This unilateral interference effect is qualitati-vely consistent with the second-order band Jahn-Teller mechanism which means theFermi level crossing the upper split band of the doubly degenerate T.. subbands. Dis-cussions on T. are given on the basis of the Fermi surface effect of T.. subbands.[martensitic transition, high T. superconductivity, A15 compounds, band Jahn- ]j Teller effect, strong electron-phonon couplingI
