Magnetoresistance of 1T-Ta_<1-x>Ti_xS_2 near the Metal-Nonmetal Transition at Ultra Low Temperatures

The temperature and magnetic field dependences of electrical resistivity offour IT -Ta. .Ti,Sz samples (,v=0.01, 0.03, 0.07 auad 0.09) were measured dow?vto 20 mK and up to 90 k0e. In this system, a metal-xaonmetal transition occurs ata concentration between ,r=0.03 and 0.07. In higher concentration samples(.v=0.07 and 0.09), the electrical resistivity shows the temperature dependemtcedue to the variable-range hopping in the Anderson localized states, while ittlower ones (,v=0.01 and 0.03) becomes metallic below 20 K, showing no tempera-ture dependence below 1 K. The large positive magnetoresistance is observed inthe temperature range between 10 an.d 0.1 K azod the negative one is found below0.1 K for higher concentration samples. The magnetoresistance of lower onesincreases monotonically with decreasing temperature. These behaviors of themagnetoresistance arc understood by the recent Yosida and Fukuyama model.
