Anomalous Magnetoresistance of Speer Carbon Resistors at Low Temperatures

Magnetoresistance of Speer carbon resistors has been measured in the Tom-perature range 0.05-4.2 K and in magnetic fields up to 84 k0e. Both negativeand positive magnetoresistances (MR) have been observed. The negative MRbecomes large with decreasing temperature and is proportional to H"' in weakmagnetic fields below about 17 k0e and saturates in higher magnetic fields. Onthe other hand, the positive MR is notable in high magnetic fields and in thetemperature range around l K. These results are discussed with recent theoriesof the Anderson localization.
