Light Scattering Spectra Dependingon the Direction of Scattering Wave Vector in KD_2PO_4.II Narrow Central Component

The Rayleigh scattering spectra have been observed near the transition fern-perature T. in the paraelectric phase of KD.P0. as a function of the directionof the scattering vector q. In the oc-scattering plane, a narrow and intense centralcomponent appears as q deviates from the [1004 direction. Its intensity sensitivelydepends on q and has the 180' rotation symmetry. The q dependence of theintensity depends upon temperature, also. In the oZ>-scattering plane, the narrowcomponent is observed also, which has the 90' rotation symmetry, but does notdepend on temperature. These results can be well explained by taking account ofthe q an.d temperature dependence of the electric susceptibility along the ferro-electric axis in addition to the static fluctuation of electronic polarizability con-cerned with the electric polarization induced by an inhomogeneous longitudinalelectric field around impurities.
