Study on the Spin-Lattice Relaxation Time of ^<23>Na in NaNo_3

Spin-lattice relaxation time of "Na in NaN0. was measured from -75.50 to320.0'C. No anomalous increase of the relaxation rate was observed near the phasetransition temperature T,. The observed Tg is interpreted as the sum of threecontributions: lattice vibrations, hindering rotation of NO. ions by 60' aroundthe three fold axis (60' flip motion) and diffusion of Na ions. Parameters forthe contribution of the lattice vibrations expressed by AT" -fB are : ,4=2.01 x 10 -'sec-'=deg-' and B= -I.38X10-'?sec-'. The activation energies for the 60'flip motion and for the diffusion are found to be 0.022 eV and 0,37 eV, respec-tively. The temperature dependence of the order parameter is obtained from T.data.
