Central Peak of Ferroelectric LiH_3(SeO_3)_2 near the Melting Point Studied by Raman Scattering

The central peak of the Raman spectrum of ferroelectric LiH3(SeO3)z was observed as a fttnc-tion of temperature frorn 30OK to the melting point (383K). With increasing temperatture, thelinewidth takes a raainirnuna arotrnd 360 K and then shows anomalous broadening near the rneltingpoint. The temperature dependence of the linewidth is decomposed into two components; onecomponent decreases linearly xvith temperature and the otluer one shows an anonaalous increasetoward the melting point. Tlae analysis shows that tlae former is caused by the critical slowingdown of the fluctuating electric polarizations in the ferroelectric phase and the latter by theactivation of the ionic motion due to the premelting phenomena,
