Raman scattering spectra of internal modes hetve been studied in antiferroelectricNH.H.As0. at several temperatures near the transition temperature T.. The evidenceof the C. local site symmetry of H.As0j in the paraelectric phase has not been ob-tained even just above T.. The integrated intensity of the v. mode giving the justifica-lion of the C. symmetry in the antiferroelectric phase increases with decreasing tem-perature below T.. In addition, the linewidth of the v. internal mode increases withincreasing temperature. Fronn the latter two results, the relaxation of the rigid iceconstraint is proposed in the discussion of the models of the phase transition inhydrogen bonded antiferroelectrics.
