A possible proton collective motion in ferroelectric KH_2PO_4 is studied on the basis of the tunneling model by making use of the statistical mechanics of irreversible processes. The spectrum and the damping constant of this motion are calculated, including their temperature dependence. It is shown that the energy of the mode with infinitely long wave length tends to zero as the Curie point is approached from either side, while the damping constant reveals no anomaly at this point. Other dynamical properties, such as the dielectric dispersion and the infra- and far infra-red absorption, are reconsidered from the new standpoint.
