Brillouin Scattering Study in SnCl_2・2H_2O near the Isomorphous Phase Transition Temperature

Angular dependence in the a"c plane of Brillouin scattering spectra in SnCl.-2H.0 has been studied over a temperature range through the isomorphous phasetransition temperature T,z -53.8'C. Temperature dependence of elastic stiff-ness constants c.., c.3, c.5, c.., c., and c, has been obtained. Anomalies ofc.. and c.. have been found at T.. A phenomenological discussion is presentedin order to explain these anomalies in connection with the layered structure.
