The Anomaly in the Spin-Lattice Relaxation Time of Protons in Ferroelectric CH_3NH_3AI (SO_4)_2・12H_2O

Proton spin-lattice relaxation time T. was measured in the temperature rangefrom 10 to -l70'C. Results obtained in the paraelectric phase were analyzedby assuming that the relaxation is caused by three mechanisms : diffusion motionof H20 molecules, the hindered rotation of CH3 and N113 radicals and thefluctuation of the local magnetic field which increases near the phase transitiontemperature owing to the critical slowing down of the order parameter. Therelaxation rate caused by the third mechanism was found to depend on tempera-lure as In (T -T.), where T. is the paraelectric Curie temperature.
