Raman Scattering Study of the Phase Tranistion in RbH_3(SeO_3)_2 in the Frequency Region of the Internal Vibrations

Raman scattering study of RbH.(Se0.). is carried out from 0 to 1000 cm='above and below the phase transition temperature T. with special attention tothe internal modes of selenite molecules. The internal vibrations are well assignedto internal modes of HSe03- and HzSe03 rather than those of Sea: = in the bothof paraelectric and ferroelectric phases. It is shown tlaat protons do not play anappreciable role in the phase transition mechanism. The splitting of the vibrationalRaman band observed at about 20'C above T. indicates the local formation ofdynamical clusters having the character of low temperature phase induced by theprecursor order above T..
