Spreading of BAg-5 on Pre-Flux Coated Stainless Steel Plate : Function of Fluxes Mixed with NiCl_2 or FeCl_3

The flux function of NiCl_2 or FeCl_3 on spreading of BAg-5 filler metal on SUS304 stainless steel plate was studied. When the pre-coated stainless steel surface with flux containing NiCl_2 was heated, nickel particle layer was formed on FeNi_3 compound layer given by dissolution of chromium and iron from stainless steel surface. In the case of flux containing FeCl_3, only FeNi_3 compound layer was formed. It was confirmed that these layers on stainless steel surface contributed to the improvement of spreading.
