Reduction of α-phenylthio-β-methoxy ketones 3a-c with Super-hydride gave syn-4a-c, key intermediates to the thermodynamically less stable (Z)-allyl alcohol derivatives 5 and cis-epoxides 6,with high stereoselectivity.
