Mixed Crystallization Effects on the Optical Properties of Multilayer Alkali Halide Films

The optical pro)certies and X-ray diffraction of tlte Ml-MBr autd Ml-MCI (M=K,Rb) multila)'or (ML) films were investigated. Tlte excitoxuic alcsorption s)cectra of LiveMl-MBr ML films villa layers tltinner than NO 11111 (layers Nut a filun xx'ere of equalthickness) slaow'ed a blue shift, xvltile tlaose of tlte N41-MCI ML films clid xvot. TIIClunainescenace spectra and tlae X-ray dill'ractiout profiles of tlae tltixt-layered Kl-KBrML filxns were very sixmilar to those of tlte unixed cr)'stal, indicating close sixnilarity ofcrystallograplaic structure. Tlaus, tlae observed blue slaift of the excitoni<x absorptionfor the thin-layered Ml-MBr ML flints SCe?I11S to origiraate frc>m the interlayer naixedcrystallizatioma gIOW11 by diffusion in tlae bouu?dary regioza between Ia)zers, but notfroun the quantum-coxafinemexat effect.[xaau1tilayer film, superlattice,quazatuna xx'ell,alkali lvalide,unixed crystal, excitoxt, l[ optical absorption, luminescence, X-ray diffractioxa%
