Transient F-H Center Pairs Produced from Self-Trapped Excitons at the Lowest Triplet State in Alkali Chloride Crystals

Tinte delayed double excitation spectroscojoy iua the picosecond raxvge ltas rex'ealedYraxnsicnt F bauads due to tl?e F center perturbed by 811 H center at tlte next nearest site,fF-II ], ixa RbCl, KCI and Nail siutgle c?-ystals after excitatioxa of tlte self-?trapped ax-citon (STE) froxn tlte lowest triplet state to higher excited states. Tlae F b;tnd couasistsof a doublet jceaking at 1.99 and 2.11 eV (RbCI), at 2.25 and 2,38 eV (](Cl) and at2.70 and 2.86 eV (Nail) with tlte ratio of 2:1 in height in every' crystal at 108 ps afterthe excitation. Tl?e peak positions and relative l?eight of tlae doublets are understoodqualitatively by the theory for the off-center type STE.
