The picosecond spectroscopy with the time delayed clouble excitation techxaique Baasrevealed tltat the F-H center pair (fF-H ]) is convertecl froun the self-trapped exciton(STE?) at the ex.. state within 20ps in KCI, Nail ?tnd RbCl at 14K. Conversionefficiencies from tlte STE, to tlae (F-H3 and to unknc>wn X states were estimated byassuming two possible candidates of the laole n. state or the ltiglter electronic state inthe STE as the precursor for 5F-H3 formation. Percentages of branchimvg from theprecursor to the (F-H3 were 49, 86 and 20% in KCI, Nail and RbCl, respectively.Rest of the STE were converted to unknown X states. By making use of tl?ese results,we criticized the state acceptable as the precursor, i.e., tlae 1?o1e n. state or the elecironic states.[tirne delayed double t::xcitation,picosecond spectroscopy, self-trapped exciton, F )l center, H center, op1.ica1 conversion, precursor state, KCI, Nail, RbC11
