Donor-Like Zeeman Absorption of Exciton Bound to Zinc Acceptor in Germanium

Internal transition of an electron in an exciton bound to a zinc acceptor in ger-manium has been observed by time resolved far-infrared magneto-absorption. Adonor like model of an acceptor bound exciton explains most of the obtained absorp-Lion spectra except for the central cell correction of 1 s like state and the doublet struc-lure. The bound exciton lines have been assigned to be Is to 2p, like transition of elec-irons in the two kinds of valleys. The lifetime of the bound exciton and the capturecross section of an exciton by a neutral acceptor are estimated to be 0.75 ps and1.2 X 10 " cm', respectively, by time-resolved absorption measurement.
