Dilatometric Study of the Phase Transition of Quasi-One-Dimensional Ferroelectric CsH_2PO_4

All of the components of the strain tensor x, (/= 1, 2, 3 and 5) due to the tem-perature change have been measured for CsH.P0. in a wide temperature rangeincluding the transition point. These strain components, except x. , show anomaloustemperature dependences which are hard to explain by the usual phenomenologicaltheory. The quasi-one-dimensional Ising model by Carvalho and Salinas wasextended to compressible cases. It is found that the extended model can give aquantitative explanation of the experimental results.
