Uniaxial Stress Effect on Subsidiary Band Minima of GaSb from Zero Bias Conductance Anomaly

By means of the uniaxial compression along <111> and <110> directions, the magnitude of zero bias conductance anomaly (Z. B. A), ?G/G_0, was reduced. The inversion of (000) and (111) valleys due to compression was observed in Z. B. A. The stress coefficient of the energy separation between (000) and (111) valleys was determined; d(?E)/d_<χ111>=(2.18±0.24)×10^<-11>eV/dyn cm^<-2>. Using the hydro-static pressure coefficient d(?E)/dP=9.0×10^<-12>eV/dyn cm^<-2>, the deformation potential constant 〓_u was obtained; 〓_u=(22.6±3.0)eV. The anomalous uniaxial stress effect on the tunneling peak current I_ρ was found. From this result the deformation potential constant was again estimated in agreement with the value determined from Z. B. A measurements.
