• The LiClO_4-catalyzed cycloaddition reaction of 1-azatriene iron-tricarbonyl complex with Danishefsky's diene proceeds in a highly stereoselective manner to give a diastereomerically pure 2-substituted dehydropiperidinone derivative. The stereochemistry of the major cycloadduct was determined to be 6RS, 1'SR by X-ray cyrstallographic analysis.
