• Methyl (1R^*,3aR^*,6aR^*)-2,2-Dimethyl-2,3,3a,4,6,6a-hexahyclro-1-(2-hydroxycthyl)-4-methylene-5-oxo-3a(1H)-pentaleneacetate (13), a key intermediate for the synthesis of (±)-quadrone, was synthesized by using the one pot regioselective reductive fission of the tricyclo[4.3.0.0^<1.3>]nonan-4-one derivative (6b), followed by trapping of the resulting enolate (9) with phenylthiomethyl iodide as a key step.
