Magnetic Phase Diagram and Superconductivity in High-T_c (La_<1-x>Ba_x)_2CuO_4

The magnetic phase diagram of (La. .Ba.).Cu0. has been studied using the "'Lanuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) technique. The ordering temperature T. hasbeen determined from the temperature dependence of the internal magnetic field atthe La site proportional to the Cu magnetic moment. It has been found that T.markedly decreases from T. -240K for x=0, to l2K for ,v=0.008, however themagnitude of the Cu magnetic moment at 1.3 K is almost constant. On the otherhand, in the composition range of 0.008<,X'<0.025, T. gradually decreases down to- 1.5 K for x= 0.025 where the superconductivity appears. This demonstrates thattwo-dimensional correlations within the Cub. in-plane are quite strong. Themagnetic phase diagram established from a microscopical point of view suggests astrong relationship between the antiferromagnetism and the superconductivity.
