Evidence of Magnetic Ordering in Heavy-Fermion Compound CeAl_3

• The ground state property of the heavy-fermion compound CeAl3 has been in-vestigated by means of "AN nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). It has been foundthat the NMR Iinewidth increases markedly below 1.2 K and the nuclear spin-latticerelaxation rate 1 / T. exhibits a sharp maximum at 1.2 K. From these results, it is con-cluded that Cell, undergoes an antiferromagnetic transition with a N<'el temperatureof T.= 1.2 K, in contrast to the finding by the ,uSR study of the development of thestatic antiferromagnetic correlation which occurs in a spatially inhomogeneous waybelow 2 K.
