Ru NQR Probe of Superconducting Property in Impurity-Doped CeRu_2

Supercondtrcting characteristics of CeRttx hatve 1.ceen investigated by systeraaatic raueasurementsof the nuclear-spin lattice relaxation ratte, l / '7'l of""Rtr on pure and ittaptrrity-sttbstittrted CeRuz,etnploying an NQR technique in zero uaaagnetic field. (1/Tv ) for CeRux sltows a broad coherenceplateau.just beloxv T. folloxved by an exponential decrease well below T.. By contrast, a distinctcoherence peak of (1/Tj) has been f'otund jttst below T. f'or the iznptrrity-sulcstittrted CeRtrz,even thotrgh La- ;tnd Al-strbstitutions f'or the Ce azud Rtr sites raaake T. sliglatly increase anddecrease, respectively. It is considered that the irtapttrity scattering arverages otrt the anisotropyof the energy gap, in good ?tgreenaernt xvith the theory of' dirty supercondttctors by Anderson."'(1/T)V') in the norzaual st?tte, which is in proportion to the SC1Ll21ICl of' the density of states atthe Fernai level, Y'(Up), is fotrnd to decrettse xvitla the Al content. The strppr'ession in T. bystrbstituting nonuaaagnetic Al imptmrity for tlae Ru sites is well accotrnted for by an appreciableredtmction in N (fp ). The present Rtr N QR sttrdy has revealed that CeRuz is characterized as aconventional ,s-wave superconductor with a large anisotropic energy gap.
