Superconductivity Unresponsive to Magnetic Substituents in YBa_2(Cu_<1-x>M_x)_3O_<7-δ>

It has been shown that the superconducting transition temperature, T., of Msubstituted YBa.(Cu. .M.),0, ,is markedly enhanced by low-temperature annealingin high-pressure oxygen gas, being essentially the same as that of the undoped one upto ,v=0.035, in cases of M=Fe and Co, while in cases of M=Zn and Ni, T. is almostunchanged by the annealing. Since Co replaces only Cut and Fe replaces both Cutand Cu2, the results indicate that the superconductivity is affected little by themagnetic impurities substituting both the two Cu sites, as in the case of the Y substitu-Lions with rare earth elements, while it is crucially affected by Zn.
