Magnetic Properties of YBa_2(Cu_<1-x>Fe_x)_3O_y

The static magnetic susceptibility of YBa.(Cu. .Fe.),0, in the normal state wasmeasured for both slowly cooled superconducting specimens and quenched semicon-ductor-like specimens. The susceptibility is found to be expressed by the sum of theCurie-Weiss term and a temperature-independent paramagnetic term, )(., for bothtypes of specimen. The Curie constant and z. increase with an increasing iron concentration. No anomaly showing magnetic ordering was observecl.
