Appearance of Paraelastic Phase as Ferroelastic Domain Walls in K_2Cd_2(SO_4)_3 Single Crystals

Dornain-phase botrndaries of' K3Cd3(SO,03 were observed under 21 polarrization taaicroscope atthe ferroelastic phase transition region. The exjceriutaent revealed that a heter'oph?tse structurewith " forbidden" dotnain walls appeared and a paraelastic phase layer pl;tyed tlae role of' thedonaain walls, Tlae orientation ?tnd thicknesses of the dotaaain-phase W2ll1S were experinrentallydeterraained to be {110} and 16 '? 45 /Jlll, respectixrely. The origin of flue heterophase strtrcttrreis disctrssed phenotnenologically based on the asstrrned prototype phase with point grotrp 43m.
