The optical absorption of r>-( -)-luciferin (LHz) in ethanol is calculated byour previous LCAO-ASMO-SCF-Cl method for m-electrons.It is found that the wavelengths of absorption of LIT. observed in etFtano1 can bereproduced only when the screening of two-center Coulomb repulsion integralsis taken into account for all the pairs of atoms except bonded ones. It is alsofound that the observed absorption spectrum can be explained by tlxe m.ode1 ofLH. interacting with two ethanol point-dipoles.
