We assume such a model for rhodopsin chromophore that 1 1 -cis PRSB interactsnot only with its negative charge near N1'6 but also with a phenol group nearCl-I. on Cg, and that there exists a little negative charge on OH in the phenolgroup. In much the same ways as our previous papers, it is shown that the observed2-..'s of desmethyl analogues of rhodopsin can reasonably be explained bytaking into account the structural change of PRSB and configurational change ofphenol group due to the substitution on methyl group(s) by hydrogen atomys'.It is also shown that the large blue-shift of 2-.. observed on 9-dm rhodopsincan be attributed to the decrease in "charge-transfer" interaction between PRSBand phenol group.
