Assuming that the stretching-vibrational energy of rhodopsin chromophoredissipates to the protein moiety during the photoisomerization, we consider thedeformed excited state P and the virtual ground state P, of the m-electron system.We also consider the normal vibrational states {&,} of the stretching and torsionalvibrations in these transient m-electronic states { '7,.}. 'the non-stationary state of thechromophore is then expressed as a linear combination of { P, U,f, and the equationfor its coefficients is derived by explicitly taking account of the kinetic energy ofatomic cores.
