Observation of Spin-Gap State in Two-Dimensional Spin-1 Kagome Antiferromagnet m-MPYNN・BF_4

Low temperature properties of' the organic spin-l Ka.qome: antiferroraaagnet, m-MPYNN=BF,j,have been studied by measuring heat capacity and rnagnetic susceptibility down to 35 tram. Theheat capacity maxirnutm dtre to a tnagnetic short-range or'der was observed at 1.4 K, whichis about half of the antiferrotnagnetic interaction 21,71/AlB$3.l K in the Kagome: lattice. Asternperature decreases, the svrsceptibility begins to decrease below 0.24 K. The sttsceptibilitiesboth parallel and perpendicular to the Kagome lattice collapse to almost zero at the lowesttemperature, which indicates a nonrnagnetic grottnd state. The temperature dependence strggeststhat the gap energy of the rnagnetic state is about 0.25 K.
