Mossbauer Study of Amorphous and Crystalline YFe_2

The M6ssbauer effect of "Fe in amorphous and crystalline YFe. was meas-ured from 77 K to 700 K. The average value of the quadrupole splitting in amor-phous YFe. below 400 K is nearly equal to the extrapolated value from theparamagnetic state of crystalline YFe.. The temperature dependence of absorp-tion intensity follows the Debye model in amorphous YFe.. The ratio of theDebye temperattu'e in amorphous state to crystalline state is 0.80.1.0.05 for YFe..The isomer shift in amorphous state is smaller than that in crystalline state andincreases with increasing temperattu'e up to the value of the crystalline state.
