Specific Heat of a Qusai-Two-Dimensional Antiferromagnet Ni (OH)_2

The specific heat of Ni(011). considered as a<)uasi-two-climensional antiferro-magnet was measured between 4.2 K and 35 K. The result showed a very sharppeak at 25.75-1.0.04 K, in contfast with the previous result of Sorai et al. whichhad a broad peak at 24.801-0.05 K. This disagreement may result from the reasonthat our sample consists of particles with the bulky property while theirs does offine particles with the size effect. The present data are cornsistent with Fisher'srelation between specific heat and magnetic susceptibility. The critical indicesmanifested a crossover from two-dimensional Ising value to three-dimensionalIsing value as temperature approached to the ?{<Set temperature. The magneticentropy also suggested the quasi-two-dimensionality
